
Georgii Speakman loves independent cinema and working on interesting scripts, stories and characters. Georgii is an award-winning actress who has played the lead female role in independent feature films Carmilla Hyde (Britt), Offside (Katie) and Roadman (Lorraine). Georgii won Best Supporting Female Actor at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival 2009 and Carmilla Hyde has been selected for (13) International Film Festivals to date. Carmilla Hyde was awarded 7 Best International Feature Film Awards in 2010 alone. Roadman was awarded as a Finalist in the DigiSPAA 2010 SPAARTAN awards and premiered at the Bradford International Film Festival UK, 2011. Georgii has most recently starred in Sidekick, with award winning writer/director Jim Shomos.
Georgii won the People's Choice Award for the theatre show Being Frank and starred as Philipa in the edgy Australian feature film Cross Life (Dir. by Claire McCarthy of The Waiting City), which screened as a ‘Top 5' film favorite at Sydney Film Festival 2007, Pusan International Film Festival, 2007, and also won an Independent Spirit Award at the Inside Film Awards, 2007. Between 2005 and 2007, Georgii had lead roles in theatre, several lead roles in award-winning short films as well as small roles in multi-award winning Mary Bryant; Small Claims and The Informant television series. Her presenting credits include Chaser's War on Everything ABC, 2007 and Body Image Workshop, Channel 7, 2009. Georgii was recently a guest star at Supanova Pop Culture Expo for Carmilla Hyde.
Georgii holds a double degree in Business Communications & Film and Television (University of SA, Flinders University, Bond University) and has completed acting training with Flinders University Drama, SA Casting, TVI Studios USA, AIPA Sydney, TAFTA Melbourne, Actors Centre NSW, Screenwise NSW, John Higgins American Dialect Sydney, Lynette Sheldon New York and Practical Aesthetics NSW & New York. Georgii has undertaken a great deal of charity work having mentored young adults through The Smith Family and hosted their government lunches; event managed fundraising initiatives for Sunrise Children's Association (SCAI) and organised publicity from print, radio including TV; has been a public speaker with Advantage SA (formerly SA Great) on career development within the Arts for High School students.
